Career & College Readiness Programs @ FBHS

Career & College Readiness is not a one-size-fits-all effort at Fort Bragg Unified Schools. 
We work with Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search and AVID programs to provide a variety of support options to our students.

What's the difference? 
Each program has different requirements & levels of commitment.

AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success, whether their destination be 4-yr college, community college, a trade school/program or the workforce. AVID helps students Keep Doors Open. 

TRIO's Educational Talent Search (ETS) collaborates with K-12 school sites, families, and other college & career access programs like AVID to provide career, college & trade school advising AND tutoring to prepare our students grade 6-12 to progress towards graduation and for life after high school. 

TRIO's Upward Bound provides first-generation college-bound students with academic readiness and resources necessary to access and graduate from a four-year college or university.  More...

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a classroom-based college-readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college.  A-to-G requirements driven, AVID at Fort Bragg High School is all about "KEEPING DOORS OPEN," understanding that our students need time, guidance and support throughout all 4 years in high school to determine what their lives will look like after high school.

EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH (ETS)

  1.   Neither parent (or the person the student lives with) has a degree from a four-year college,

  2.   - OR - the family meets the U.S. Federal Income Guidelines for TRIO programs

  3.   AND the student has a desire to succeed in a college or career training program

UPWARD BOUND

  • classroom-based program throughout ALL four years of high school

  • attend college classes via a six-week summer program at Fort Bragg High School

  • enroll in A - G classes

  • maintain good academic standing in all classes
